Keyhole Castle Bed and Breakfast is a bed and breakfast in a national historic site in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
“Keyhole Castle is even more grand than I’d hoped for! Having passed this beautiful home many times during my youth in Prince Albert, I always wondered what it looked like inside. Excited that it was a Bed & Breakfast, we had occasion to spend 3 wonderful days in August, 2016, at Keyhole Castle and we were in awe of its magnificent interior. It has been beautifully preserved in the fine architecture of the early 1900’s - the builder obviously spared no expense in the fine details of workmanship of that era.Our hosts, Jonathan and Denise, are delightful and down to earth kind of people. We felt very comfortable in their home and in their company. Breakfast, served by Jonathan, was excellent by anyone’s standards and we appreciated that they were open to our time schedule. Also appreciated was the open invitation to enjoy the grounds and explore all the nooks and crannies of this fabulous and historic Bed & Breakfast. Jonathan and Denise are to be praised for the maintenance and upkeep of this grand old piece of history. They are doing a superb job to ensure that it is preserved for the rest of us to enjoy. If you live in Prince Albert, or near by, be a tourist in your own home town and enjoy a couple of nights at Keyhole Castle. It’s like walking into another era in time and enjoying it at its finest! If you’re just a visitor to Prince Albert, treat yourself to a unique experience into yesteryear.”
“Your home was recommended by a coworker. As a new mom, I was insecure about work travel away from my little angelfish. My stay here was a gift - the environment, the sleep, the hospitality exceeded every expectation I had. I’ve stayed here more than once and will continue to as often as work and personal travel allow. I can’t wait to share it with my husband. Thank you for sharing your home.”
“I have known about Keyhole Castle for a long time, but never imagined having the opportunity to actually open the door and walk across it’s threshold! As I stand amazed in the foyer, I quickly realized that one does not simply see Keyhole Castle, but rather, one experiences Keyhole Castle! Each room, every wall, every corner from the floor to the ceiling and all things in between tell a magnificent story! A history lesson in the making!I wonder about the interesting lives that lived in this home, the social gatherings and conversations that must have taken place so very long ago!Keyhole Castle is truly a treasure in the community! Many thanks to Denise, her friendly and knowledgeable staff for making me feel so welcome!I shall remain respectfully, Keyhole Castle’s greatest fan!”
“We had our wedding photography done at the castle. Denise was very accommodating and proudly showed the house to our huge family.”
“Truly a magnificent “Castle” with a Royal breakfast thank you Denise and Jonathan”
“WOW is the only way to describe this historical, warm and inviting “home away from home”! From the unique period-piece decor to the hearty/healthy breakfast to the awesome hosts, Jonathan and Denise, this is a place we will definitely be visiting again when we’re back in PA!!Our family spent a weekend at the castle and were accommodated in so many ways. We have a 6 year old nephew who enjoyed the third floor ballroom complete with Thomas the Tank and crew! And the unique toiletries, comfy towels and his and hers bathrobes were all greatly appreciated!Looking forward to visiting again in the summer so we can enjoy the patio and beautiful yard!”
“As former residents of Prince Albert, we drove by Keyhole Castle hundreds of times over the years always wondering what it was like inside. This 2015 September long weekend we were back to PA for a quick visit and had the opportunity to stay a night at this wonderful B & B. We finally had a chance after all these years to see the immaculate finishes inside this historic structure. We were very impressed. As far as being a B & B, Jon and Denise are wonderful hosts, the room was quiet and comfortable and the breakfast delicious. They also asked us to join them for an evening conversation over wine with personal guests of theirs who turned out to be a couple we knew from our high school years in PA. A fun time was had by all. The next time we are in PA we will definitely stay at the Keyhole Castle and highly recommend it to all.”
“Me and two colleagues stayed here and had the most lovely experience. Great beds, great breakfast, beautiful home and wonderful hosts. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED !!!!The hosts let us park in their driveway and helped us with our bags. They gave us homemade wine and tonnes of hospitality. The bathroom was full of lovely amenities - everything was clean and warm and wonderful. We had an unforgettable time. Jon cooks a killer breakfast!! ”
“This place was a treat. A step back in time to a classic period a great house of character. Our hosts were kind and gracious, breakfast and coffee waiting every morning was a welcome start to the day. The room was comfortable and the place was very clean. As a home reno hobbyist myself i have huge respect for people who take on to maintain and restore a grand old house like this. The master bedroom and ensuite bathroom are undergoing renovations and Jon is doing a great job to maintain the period and the grandeur of the space. As I write reviews for places like this i hesitate to share too enthusiastically for fear that too many will discover the “gems” making it harder to book next time, but I believe these are places that need to be supported and I understand that a place such as this is not for everyone. You run the risk of needing to share the bathroom with other guests and having to make conversation a formal breakfast table with strangers. For us this has never been a problem. While other family members stayed at the new chain hotel, their complaints of loud neighbours and sleepless nights where met with our description of quiet nights sleep and pleasant hospitality at the Keyhole Castle. ”
